Teen Halloween Party Ideas - Things Teens Wished Parents Knew

Decorations set the mood for the party.

You teenager may enjoy having lots of decorations or they may just want one or two items. The best way to find out is to have them involved with the planning and purchasing of items. You do not want to pick something that you think is really cool only to find out that they can not stand it.

Activities are where many parents get into trouble with party planning for teens.

Having games and craft activities planned works well for kid parties but not for teen parties.

For teen parties two activities they will enjoy are dancing and watching a scary movie.

The rest of their time will be spent talking to each other and eating.

Food does not have to be complicated.

Fixing a gourmet sit down dinner is not going to be as popular as getting pizza delivered.

Teenagers want something simple and easy to eat. Have snacks available for them to munch on and bottled water and soda. A cake might be fine but cupcakes or cookies will be better as long as they are not too childish looking.

Teenagers need time to be by themselves with their friends, make sure you do not hover around them all evening. Check in on them every so often but do not join the party. Let them know when it is getting close to the end of the party time by announcing it fifteen minutes before the time is up. They will appreciate that you trusted them to handle the running of the party without your interference.
