Quick and Easy Halloween Party Ideas and Treats

It is that time of year when all of the little ghosts and goblins come out to play!  Here are some quick and easy party treats and games that everyone will enjoy.

Games

Mummy Wrap:  Divide into teams of 3 to 4 people.  One person is the "Mummy" the others will wrap him/her in toilet paper.  The first team to finish "Wins".  If you want everyone to win offer prizes for "Most Toilet Paper Used", Funniest Mummy or any other  "Winning" category.

Musical Chairs and Cupcake Decorating:

Get out your scariest Halloween music and let's play.  The game is simple, you will need chairs and little goblins.  Start  the music, every time you pause the music the children will sit on a chair.  Make sure you have one less chair than the number of children playing.  The person standing is the one eliminated from that round.

As each player is eliminated from the game send them to the cupcake decorating area.  Let the children decorate their own cupcakes using orange or brown frosting and Halloween themed candies.  Be prepared, this part of the party might get a little messy!

Pumpkin Carving:

Supply each child with their own pumpkin for "carving".  As any parent will tell you, supervising 1 or 2 children while carving is difficult to do.  Have your party guests "carve" their pumpkins with magic markers.  They will have fun drawing funny faces and you will not have to worry about any one getting hurt!

Bonus:  It's easy to clean up!

Pin The Nose On The Pumpkin

This is a Halloween version of the old game, Pin The Tail On The Donkey.  Draw the shape of a pumpkin on a large piece of paper and tack or tape it to the wall.  Blindfold one child at a time and have them try to pin the nose of the pumpkin to your drawing.

Want to add to the fun and excitement.  Have the children pin eyes, nose and teeth to your drawing.  Your young guests will laugh at the funny results.

Dirt and Worms

Children love making and eating their own "Dirt and Worms".  This activity requires some adult set up prior to the party.

Supplies:

Clear disposable glasses

Chocolate Pudding - instant is easiest.

Crushed Oreo cookies or any other chocolate cookie that crumbles easily.

Gummy worms (candy spiders or bugs can also be used)

Each child will make layers of chocolate pudding, cookie crumbs and then more chocolate pudding.  Encourage your guests to put their gummy worms into their "dirt" home.  From an adult point of view, it looks gross, but the kids will definitely love eating their own gross creation.

End your evening of Halloween fun by having each child take home the pumpkin they decorated with the magic markers.  After your guests depart, sit back and enjoy your own creation of "Dirt and Worms".
