Backdrops and Childhood Party Ideas

Ice cream and cake makes for a fun child's party. That's really all the kids need to have a good time. But sometimes you might want to do something a little different. Wouldn't it be cool to take a break from the cartoon-theme party? At least try something different for one year. Choose an interesting and not often seen party idea to give your child a party to remember. Backdrops, yard decorations and more can make for interesting party decorations.

Try these interesting decorating ideas for your child's birthday party:

1. Hang custom-designed greeting signs and banners in your front yard or door. The signs can say things like "party here" or "welcome to our party." For the child's safety, don't put the child's name on any of the items. It's not safe to let strangers know your child's name. Anyone passing by could see your child's name and later use it for malicious purposes.

Make sure you match the signs or banners with the party theme. For instance, for a Hawaiian party, use yellow, pink and orange leis around the word "Aloha". With a little creativity, you can make a homemade sign better than any you would find in a store.

2. Let you child create some of the decorations. For example, decorate the party table using a tablecloth designed by your child. Buy a set of colorful markers and crayons for your child to use. You could also let her cut out shapes and designs on colorful construction paper. Just let your child's imagination run wild. You can then put your child's creations on a colored transparent plastic tablecloth. Get a cheap tablecloth from a discount store and decorate it.

3. Rent backdrops to hang at the party. A backdrop is just a background with a color or scene painted on it. You see them most often in theater productions or photographer's studios. However, they come in different sizes so it may be possible to get a smaller one for your home. It would make a good place for guests to pose for photos.

Put on your thinking cap. There are plenty of creative ways to liven up a child's party. Backdrops, custom decorations and banners are just the tip if the iceberg.
