Planning a Halloween Party That Elementary School Kids Will Love

Every family celebrates Halloween differently. Some parents are too busy to prepare a grand party and simply carve out a pumpkin face, put a candle inside and position the scary pumpkin in a window facing the street. However, if your child is attending a school Halloween party and you're going to participate, you have to think of more Halloween ideas to contribute. Here are some suggestions:

"Scary Face" Painting

If you have a week or so before the party, you can learn the basics of face painting and use your skills to make Halloween more fun and memorable to the kids attending your Halloween party.

If you're not the artistic type, you can hire two face painting artists for the day and put up a stall in the venue for face painting. Some kids will be lacking in the costume department, and face art will make up for what they lack. Divide the kids into two and line them up to have their face painted. Let the kids choose the designs by giving out flyers with a list of the images they can ask the artist to paint.

Create Your Painted Pumpkin Family

You can use paper mache pumpkins or real ones for pumpkin painting. The objective is to give younger kids something to do with Halloween pumpkins without exposing them to sharp edges, knives and the other dangers associated with jack-o-lantern carving.

If you're ordering pumpkins, ask the supplier to pick out large, medium and small sized pumpkins to represent each member of the child's family.

For school events, however, the kids can have one pumpkin to paint and bring home after the party. Prepare supplies like glues, acrylic paints, permanent markers, colored paper, old newspapers, eye-drawing cut outs, ribbons, colorful stickers and party hats. Let the kids paint funny faces on their pumpkins and decorate them using the supplies you provided.

Freeze Dancing

One of the best activities that a group of elementary kids can participate in at a Halloween party is Freeze Dancing. Choose a lively Halloween CD and let the kids dance for a while before stopping the music. Each child has to "freeze" when the music stops. You can designate two or three teachers or parents to supervise the game and eliminate kids who move even a little while the music is not playing. The last child standing is declared the winner.

Snacks

You can turn any snack (cookies, rice pudding and ice cream) into a creepy, crawly Halloween treat just by using green or orange food coloring and serving with candy corns.

There are a variety of other activities you can do at a Halloween party like dance dance revolution or halloween carnival games.

Planning a Party? Top 3 Party Themes of All Time

Are you looking to throw the perfect party but don't know what you can do to spice up the mood and make sure your guests have the time of their lives? You're not alone. Lots of people struggle to find the perfect angle for a good time.

Choosing an ideal party theme will depend on your guests and their interests. If you're planning an all-boys get-together, you're probably not going to choose a pajama party theme. Likewise, a group of girls might not be so fond of a poker party theme. Fortunately, there are great party ideas targeted for men and women and are appropriate for all age groups.

Here is our list of the top 3 party themes of all time:

1. Beach Party. Beach parties are a great way to spice up a party and keep your guests excited. Everyone loves to throw on a pair of shorts, their bathing suit or even track pants and a tank top (for those more interested in comfort) and drink the night away.

What you'll need: All you need to pull off a beach party is a bunch of leis, some grass skirts and a few posters of sunny beach destinations. If you want to get really technical, you can throw a bunch of sand in your garage and setup some beach volleyball nets to really fuel the mood.

2. Black and White Party. Color-schemed parties are extremely popular these days. Black and white used to be the most popular but many party-planners are opting for black and pink, black and red or red, white and blue parties. Color themed parties are a quick and easy way to spice up any event.

What you'll need: All you'll need to do is coordinate your decor with the color scheme you choose for your party. Invitations, table centerpieces, favors and all of the decorations should match the colors you indicated on your invitations.

3. Costume Party. Costume parties are fun and exciting and allow you to be someone completely different for a night. This type of party is relatively easy to throw, mostly because your guests are doing the majority of the work for you.

What you'll need: If it's a Halloween costume party, you can purchase Halloween themed decorations but if it's just a generic costume party, there's not a whole lot you'll need. A good location and some delicious treats are about all that's left for you to worry about.

All of the unique party ideas listed above work well for both men and women and are relatively appropriate for individuals of all ages.

Party planning doesn't have to be stressful. In fact, it should be fun. Using one of the ideas above will ensure you and your guests have a fabulous time.

We hope our tips help. Have fun and happy planning!

Holiday Party Planning - How to Throw a Great Halloween Party

You're probably wondering where you can get great Halloween party ideas that are spooky and radically distinctive, right? You may have attended a lot of Halloween parties yourself, but realized that they just have been so dull and redundant. So, what would be your edge if you are to conduct your own party? You have to start collecting unique holiday party planning ideas and utilize them.

As usual, you need to have your guests wear the right kind of costumes. You have to let your guests understand that they should go with the main idea of a Halloween party, therefore they should look really scary.

Aside from the costumes, you also have to choose the right decorations for the party. You can choose to turn your garage into a very cool and exciting venue for the party. You need not put a lot of effort in cleaning it because after all, it's a Halloween party. Just consider adding some decorations instead. You may consider hanging a disco ball at the center of your garage and have it move freely. You can utilize the usual decorations such as webs, vinyl bats, broomsticks, pumpkins and other scary stuff.

Now, since it's going to be a party, one of the best ideas you can use is turning your garage into a dance floor. To be able to do this, you need to have some light effects and a DJ to work on the music. Just select the appropriate songs for the event. You can play the scary music after every dance music.

The next thing to consider is the food that you will be serving your guests. As a great holiday party planning idea, it would be easier for you if you're going to make your own food. For instance, you can add some designs of spooky characters to your finger foods. You may serve bat-shaped and pumpkin-shaped cookies to your guests. You can create your own designs, and if you're good in baking stuff, then this wouldn't be a problem for you, and this will also be very economical on your part. You just need to make sure that you and your guests are having a great time celebrating the party!

10 Steps For Planning A Halloween Party - Creative And Creepy Halloween Ideas For Revelers Of All Ag

The sky is darkening. You feel a chill and ghostly horrors in the air as the moon shines brightly on this cloudless night. It is the last night of October, October 31st. It is officially Halloween night and you have decided to have a hauntingly exciting Halloween party. How ghoulishly delightful! But where do you start in planning your Halloween holiday celebration. Here are 10 steps to help you in planning a great Halloween Party that will have all those ghosts, wicked witches and grim goblins screaming with delight.

Step 1: Halloween Party Kickoff: Think about who the party is for - for you or your children? An adult Halloween party will be quite different from a children's Halloween party when it comes to planning the Halloween theme of the party, Halloween decorations, Halloween recipes and beverages. Adults and older children usually love to be frightened, but that is not the same for smaller children. So when planning your event keep the ages of your guests in mind. Once you have that figured out, now it is time to pick the date, time and place of your Halloween party. And don't forget the guest list.

Step 2: Halloween invitations: This is where you can have fun and set the mood of your unforgettable night of horror chills and thrills by sending out unique and spookily inviting Halloween party invitations. You can purchase them or make some yourself with some construction paper and some glitter markers, or how about buying some inexpensive Halloween paper eye masks and writing the words on the back. Include all the important information such as date, time, place and a request for RSVP to your Halloween party.

Step 3: Halloween party food and recipes: now the party would not be a party without a lot of great Halloween munchies. Plan a menu and write out your shopping list. Try to do as much in advance as possible, and try to pick Halloween recipes that can be made ahead and stored or frozen. And again, think of the ages of your guests - there are a lot of fun Halloween foods for both kids and adults. Here might be the place to use up some of those Halloween pumpkin guts.

Step 4:Haunted Halloween Pumpkins: plan to buy your pumpkins early to get the best selection. By selecting a variety of shapes and sizes of pumpkins, you will be able to make a variety of interesting jack-o-lanterns ghosts. And don't forget about those miniature pumpkins, they can make great party favors or Halloween decorations also. And the day before the party, carve your pumpkins and double check you have enough candles or use small flashlights to show off their ghostly grins.

Step 5: Halloween Costumes: there is always something exciting about putting on a Halloween costume and taking on another identity. So prepare yourself and your families Halloween party costumes in advance so that you don't have to run around in a panic trying to put something together at the last minute. It is easy to find a lot of great Halloween costume ideas that will not cost a lot of money or time.

Step 6: Halloween Party Games or Activities: Halloween games and craft activities are especially popular for younger Halloween party guests, but this does not mean that adults would not enjoy the fun of Halloween games and showing off their ghostly talents. So think about what Halloween activities your guests would be interested in and gather all the materials you need in advance. Also be sure to have some extra Halloween activities incase a game that you are expecting to take 45 minutes only lasts for 20. And do not forget the Halloween prizes, these can be easily and inexpensively assembled by a quick trip to your local novelty or dollar store or ordered online to be delivered straight to your door.

Step 7: Halloween music and sounds: there is no time then the present to start thinking about what kind of Halloween music you want at your Halloween party celebration. Are you looking for some fun party songs for dancing music, or hauntingly spooky background ghost music for a dinner party, or a collection of sing-a-longs for the kids. Also, you might want to incorporate some Halloween special effects outside with spooky horror sounds as your guests walk up to the front door. There are a lot of special music tapes or CD's available to purchase, or if your try making one on your own - it could be almost as much fun as the Halloween party itself.

Step 8:Halloween Party Favors: party favors add an extra treat of fun to any Halloween party and are a wonderful addition as a Halloween treat for each guest or something they can take home. They do not need to be elaborate Party Favors or costly and can range from a small plastic toy to a homemade individual bundle of snack mix wrapped in Halloween decoration style.

Step 9: Halloween Decorations: decorations for your front yard and house for Halloween can be a lot of fun and again does not need to be costly. You can get a lot of great eerie Halloween effects by experimenting with some horror lighting placed around your indoor and outdoor Halloween decorations. And adding in some Halloween music or ghost sounds can make some of your Halloween decorations come to life.

Step 10: Party Guests Arrival: today is the day - Halloween party Night, and your guests are about to arrive. Have a quick look around to see if all is in order and that your house is a safe setting. Keep a porch light on so everyone sees any steps or other obstacles, and make sure all your guests have a way back home after the Halloween festivities come to an end.

Final note: Remember that your Halloween party does not need to be elaborate, the main component of a great Halloween party are a few willing participants that want to have fun, a few simple Halloween decorations and props, toss in some spooky music and ghost sounds, and definitely the Halloween food - and you will have a smashingly and howling Halloween Party. So when the party starts, enjoy yourself! It will be a spookily great time.

Halloween Party Planning Tips - Make Your Party Spooktacular

If you're going to have a Halloween party this year, you probably want to make sure it's the best and most spectacular Halloween party your friends have ever seen, right? Of course you do, so in order to do that you want to start planning ahead of time to ensure you've covered all of the bases without having to rush around at the last minute. There's a lot to think about, so here are a few tips to get you started down the road to Halloween party superstardom!

The Theme is Everything...

The very first thing you need to do when planning your Halloween party is to decide what the overall theme is going to be. Even if it's just a "Halloween" theme, it's a good idea to know what direction you're going in when planning and tying everything together. Any theme will do, such as pirates, the old west, classic monsters, orange and black, vintage Hollywood, witchcraft, the Wizard of Oz, or whatever else you can come up with.

Don't Skip the Invitation...

Next, you'll want to design your Halloween invitations to match the theme to let your guests know ahead of time what to expect at your Halloween party. Of course, if you're requiring your guests to wear a specific costume type to fit the theme, make sure you tell them so there's no confusion. There's nothing worse than showing up in a gladiator costume when it's a princess party. So make sure everyone knows what to expect ahead of time.

You can certainly buy pre-made Halloween invitations that match your theme, but it's also a nice touch to make them yourself. You can make them on your computer using Halloween clipart, fonts, and borders that are readily available online. Or you can get out the old construction paper, scissors, and glue and make your Halloween invitations the old fashioned way. Don't worry about making them perfect because your guests will be impressed no matter what they look like! Just be creative and set the mood for your Halloween party. You can also use one of the many free online invitation services such as evite.com that allow you and your guests to keep track of who's attending. You might also post other fun things in the days prior to your Halloween party to get your guests excited about the event.

Party Decorations Set the Mood...

Your Halloween party decorations are probably the most important things you should consider when planning your party. Sticking with your Halloween theme, try to keep everything in the same general style. They don't have to match exactly, but if you're having a 1950s Grease party, try to stay away from the Dracula decorations. Remember to get plenty of plates, cups, napkins, plastic silverware, bowls, and serving trays that match the theme. If you're really creative, you can make your own tableware! Buy inexpensive glass plates and cups and paint your Halloween party theme on the bottoms and outsides. You can find lots of inspirational Halloween and party designs online.

Your party decorations should set a mood and be evenly spread out around the party area. You can even create little theme areas within your theme. If you're having a pirate themed party, you can decorate the bar area like an old pub, the dance floor like a ship, and the sitting area like a jail cell, complete with chained up prisoners and skeletons. Just have fun and be creative.

Party Food and Drink to Match...

Of course, your Halloween party food and drinks should follow your theme if you can manage it. There are a lot of great food and drink recipes you can find in books, magazine, and online that work great for Halloween parties. Making your food look like eyeballs, severed fingers, internal organs, bugs, and spiders are great fun to make and eat. Bloody or strangely colored drinks are also a Halloween favorite. Using dry ice inside punches can create a very impressive and eerie effect. Just make sure you follow the usage instructions and be careful of dry ice chips. Dry ice can be hazardous if ingested, so remind your guests of that before one of them tries to impress the crowd by downing a chunk of it!

With a little preparation and some attention to detail, your Halloween party should turn out to be one of those events that will go down in history and be talked about for years to come. The problem is, how will you top it next Halloween? Have fun!

Halloween Party Ideas - Party Planning Help For Idiots

OK, well maybe you are not an idiot... but many of us have had our own share of hard times trying to put the coolest party together, without forgetting something crucial. Then sets in the panic and regret, two things that never should happen at a party. Parties should be enjoyed. Therefore, plan everything in advance and you will be all set to enjoy your event with the rest of your guests. When it comes to a killer Halloween party, here are the must-haves:

Music - One of the biggest mistakes people make is forgetting to have background music. You don't have to have a full-fledged dance party or state of the art surround sound, but you do need to play a little spooky music to set the mood. You can switch it up to some upbeat music once all your guest arrive, but to start it out right, you want some creepy tunes to get the party's blood pumping. Don't forget to play "Monster Mash" at some point -- it's always a favorite.

Great Food - Don't just put some snacks out in a bowl. You can create some real creepy appetizers and buffet tables to go with the Halloween theme. Try creating a full "dead body buffet" or simply put out some hot "fingers" or some "mold and mildew dip". There are a ton of food items to put out if you just look around the internet. Most are creations from tasty favorites, with and added creative twist (often made with some simple adjustments and food coloring). It's a lot easier than you might think.

Games - No party is complete without a little healthy competition. Put a ghoulish spin on bobbin for apples, do a halloween scavenger hunt, or play "pin the skin on the skeleton" (like pin the tail on the donkey... but not the same thing!). Use your imagination and there are endless possibilities.

Decorations - The simplest way to get the Halloween flavor going is to dim the lights. So shut them down and use holiday lights or replace bulbs with less wattage. You can also rent (or buy) a fog machine for added effect. After that, it can be as simple as draping fake spider webs and strategically placing fake bugs and spiders everywhere.

Invitations and Guest List - I listed this last because it is the absolute first thing you should do, and is the part often put off. When planning a party, invitations need to be given out in advance, so people can book your party on their schedule ahead of time. If you really want the bash to work out, invite them in September, and follow up with a reminder in October. The best thing about getting the invitations out in advance is that it lights a fire under you to get your party together more quickly.

Parties do not have to be complicated, they just have to be organized and if you are not creative -- there are plenty of sources for help.

Halloween Party Ideas - 3 Quick Planning Tips

Next Halloween why not try gearing the festivities toward a subgenre of the traditional any-and-all scares? Instead of the generic spiders, witches and pumpkins why not decorate with a more specific scary theme like haunted ship, house or pumpkin patch. No matter which one is chosen, makes sure to keep the scare level appropriate to the guest list. Very young or very mature guests will not appreciate the very scary party the way that the high school guests might.

A haunted ship themed party allows for a lot of creative interpretations. Purchase a treasure chest or make one from a cardboard box and wood grained contact paper and line it with velvet. Fill it with party favors like foil covered coins and candy necklaces. The whole treasure can be found on the party table as a center piece draped with traditional pirate skeleton and purchased synthetic cobweb.

Haunted house themed parties would be a matter of purchasing decorations and party goods with a house prominently displayed. A small doll house or a ceramic haunted house might make a good centerpiece. If time permits try baking a haunted gingerbread house or possibly buy one pre-made. Then use candy dishes that feature the same candies that are used to decorate the house. With spooky background house sound affects the whole theme comes together nicely.

What could be easier than the haunted pumpkin patch? Real or artificial pumpkins are the quintessential fall decoration. Just use a few more of them than usual and use cloth stems and leaves to pull the look together. Ghosts, ghouls and skeletons can adorn the patch while plastic pumpkins are filled with candy corn and pumpkins. Orange and black or just fall leaf motif party goods work well on this themed party table. Make use of these tips and you're sure to have a goulish Halloween.
