Why Do We Celebrate Halloween?

Halloween is one of the widely celebrated holidays all over the world. Attending Halloween parties, visiting haunted mansions, going on ghost tours and similar activities are done on the night of October 31st. Children also love to go around the neighborhood for the annual trick or treat.

Halloween is said to have started in Ireland but is also celebrated in the United States, Australia and other countries. Also, in Celtic Ireland in the 5th Century BC they celebrate a holiday called "Samhain" which they consider the Celtic New Year.

Halloween is also believed to have originated in the Catholic Church in preparation for All Saints Day which falls on November 1. All Saints is also called "All Hollows Day" in relation to Halloween since Halloween is celebrated on the eve of November 1. In other words, both Celtics and Catholics look up Halloween as an important celebration of their beliefs.

In Halloween parties, friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbors gather together dressed up on their favorite Halloween character. Halloween characters loved by many include Mr Hallowenster, Joker, Annie Brackett, Batman, Scarecrow, Mr Death and many others. Some people would also wear vampire costumes or dress up as zombies, witches and werewolves. Creative guys even wear something more unique like wearing a costume with bats or coffins attached.

If you are hosting the Halloween party, you should make sure to prepare Halloween decors that would make your place look creepy, haunted and enthralling. You can get different Halloween decoration ideas online or ask friends for unique ideas. Some decors you can use are bats, pooping eyes, fake webs, and Jack-o-Lantern. You can also use crepe paper to add color to the scene or even use the black on most areas to make the place more eerie.

Halloween is not focused on instilling fear on people but instead it's one way to celebrate and commemorate the death of our loved ones but in a happy way based on our beliefs. Let's continue celebrating Halloween every year with family and friends and reminisce the good times we had with our beloved ones who already passed away.

Twilight Party Ideas - One Way to Celebrate Your Birthday

Using Twilight as a way to celebrate your birthday has become quite a popular event. I wonder how many Halloween parties it's going to inspire!

Your birthday is around the corner and you still haven't come up with a theme for the party. You're out of ideas and you start to panic- what should you do? Well, while everybody else has notions of princesses and fairies as their themes, why don't you try something different and more interesting? Think Twilight Party Ideas.

The Twilight book saga has been sensational so you know that parties based on these are going to be surefire hits. If you want your party to be memorable, then you should have a Twilight-themed party. How to get started? It's quite simple.

Let's begin with the basics- make your own party invitations. Cut thick papers into 5 inch by 5 inch squares. Blood red papers would be nice. Download an eerie picture of any Twilight scene you like (you can find these in the net). Glue one picture for each paper and attach a small black ribbon on top. Put the party details at the back of the paper in black ink.

Now let's talk about decorations. Naturally, it should match the atmosphere depicted in the movie. Something dark, with lots of twinkle lights to make it enchanting would be great. Alice Cullen always planned the parties in the book saga, and Alice went crazy with twinkle lights!

Prepare a black satin table cloth. If you can't find black, use red. Set the table. Make sure to put juicy red apples on top of each plate. Jelly Apples would work too. Put some red food coloring in melted butter and pour it on top of freshly popped pop corn. That will help the popcorn to look a little vampy.

Place some candles on the table. If you can get hold of an antique-looking table candle set, it would surely make the whole set up more suitable for the occasion. Put posters of Edward and Bella, the Cullens, and other vampires on the walls of the party area.

Get some party music going! Play some eerie music. Classics such as Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Brahms Piano Quintet in G minor are quintessential spooky music. Too dark for you? Then use the music soundtrack from the Twilight movie!

Naturally, no party is complete without a party punch. To make it more attuned to the theme, you should prepare a red party punch. All you need are: 2 cups apple juice, 4 cups cranberry juice, and 1.5L lime beverage...I use whichever one I find in the grocery store freezer. Mix them all together and put some ice just before serving.

Now you are ready for an unforgettable Twilight-themed birthday party! Since the DVD was just released for sale, why not have a movie viewing for your guests. Play some trivia games and you can make up a Jeopardy game easily with the help of one or more of the books. I have been dazzled by Edward and am a big fan of the Twilight Saga and movies, I would enjoy watching the movie with my friends and I am sure your friends would enjoy it too.
