Top Ten Adult Party Themes to Wow Your Guests

Looking for great adult themes for your next get together? Who said kids are the only ones who can enjoy a fun theme party?

You may not want clowns, balloons, or a petting zoo for your next adult party, but how about a pirate theme! There are literally hundreds of ideas for adult party themes that will really wow your guests. Here are the top 10 adult themes in no particular order.

Decades

Did you and your friends sow your wild oats during the 60's? Perhaps it was the 80's or another era in time altogether. You can have great fun setting up a decade theme party. Your imagination is truly the limit for this type of themed party, you can even choose a time period before you or your friends were born!

Hawaii

Sunny skies, warm beaches, and hula dancers are some of the things that come to mind when you think about a Hawaiian themed party. Most of these adult parties will lean toward the luau style. Set up a tropical paradise with lots of bright colors, leis, fake palms and grass skirt on everything! Popular drinks for a luau include mai tais, pina coladas, frozen daiquiris, and Bahama Mamas! Greet everyone with a flower lei and an aloha and you are guaranteed to have a wonderful time.

Western

Can you say Yee Haw? How about Yahoo! Western themes are always a crowd favorite with blue jeans, cowboy boots, cowboy hats and country western music. You can have your very own hoe down in the backyard. Typical western fare would include barbeque, baked beans, beer, and perhaps even a few shots of bourbon.

Movie Themes

Do you and your friends have a favorite movie? Gone with the Wind, Lord of the Rings, and even some of the popular horror flicks are great fodder for an adult themed party. Decorate in the style of your chosen genre, whether it's the deep south or middle earth, and offer food and drink that coordinates. Your friends will love the chance to dress up as their favorite character. A movie theme is a great choice for upcoming Halloween parties as well.

Magic

There is a little magic in everyone, and what could be more fun than a magic themed adult party. Top hats, wands, and magician assistant costumes are total fun. If you wanted to go all out, you could hire a professional magician for entertainment.

Las Vegas

What happens at your party stays at your party! (At least if it's a Vegas style affair that should be the motto.) Decorate with big fuzzy dice, black and red balloons, and provide green "felted" tables for black jack and poker games. Friendly gambling will be the underlying theme and your friends can come out in their most glamorous duds.

Harvest Theme

If you need a reason for a party why not the changing of the seasons? A fall harvest party is a very popular choice for ringing in cooler temperatures and celebrating the brilliant colors of the season. Leaf shaped invitations, pumpkin and gourd decorations, and fall activities make a wonderful party. Schedule a hayride, build a bonfire, and bob for apples.

International Food

Do you enjoy dishes from around the world? Create an international foods adult theme party. Your guests could dress in traditional clothing from around the world and bring their favorite foreign dish. Catering this type of party is also a great option.

Mardi Gras

Celebrate the spirit of Louisiana no matter where you live with a Mardi Gras style party. Massive amounts of purple, green, and gold decorations are a must, as are masks and beads. Beat the winter blues with this favorite adult themed party.

Girls Only

Want a night out with just the girls? Consider a sleepover, pajama party, or spa theme. Whether you are young or young at heart nothing beats a good old fashioned sleepover with movies, games, popcorn and ice cream! Pamper, share, or cry to a good old-fashioned chick flick with your girlfriends.

Conclusion

There are many adult themed party ideas you can choose from, these are just a few of the most popular choices. Let your imagination carry the day as you plan your next adult party. Go crazy or totally refined; it is all up to you!

Creepy Halloween Party Decorations For an Adult Halloween Party

When done right, good Halloween party decorations and props can give your adult guests genuine chills they'll remember long after the party. One of the most effective ways to give your decor more psychological impact is to choose a theme. A coherent theme helps set the mood better than a collection of random decorations.

Straight Out of a Horror Movie

If you're a movie buff, this theme will be easy to create. Say your favorite scary movie is Psycho. Set up your entry way to look like the lobby of the Bates motel, complete with guest book. In the living room, dress up a corpse or skeleton prop as the late Mrs. Bates. And don't forget to put the remains of poor Marion Crane in the shower. With the horror movie set theme, details really help. Using the Psycho theme as an example, you might hang a lenticular changing portrait in your living room and label it "Mother."

Haunting Ghosts

Even those who claim they "don't believe in ghosts" still get a little spooked by seemingly paranormal activity when the mood is right. To really rock the ghost theme, don't skimp on your ghost decorations and props. Hanging bed sheets won't cut it. What you want, at least for your most visible ghosts, are specters that look like they used to be human. It's the twisted faces, pale skin and hollow eyes that really creep people out. If you have some room in your Halloween decorations budget, look into a ghost illusion prop. These project semi-transparent, 3-D figures that look disturbingly realistic. Ghost illusion DVDs will get you a similar effect cheaper.

A Night with the Devil

This is another theme that's more about chills than gore. To get the most out of this theme, set up a devil prop that's as life-like as you can find. Place him where your guests will be spending most of their time, whether that's in the living room or outside around a bonfire. To compliment your devil, pick up some ghouls and demons. Decent motion- or sound-activated animated demons can be found for less than $30. Hang up a few winged demons and leave standing ones lurking in dark corners. Placing one outside on a window ledge looking in also creates a nice creepy effect.

Once you have a theme in mind, decorating is just a matter of knowing where to get affordable, quality Halloween party decorations and how to set them up for the greatest impact. Visit HalloweenPartyDecorations.org for cheap decor and props and ideas on setting them up.

Host an Adult Halloween Costume Party

Halloween is not just for kids. Adults love to celebrate the holiday and dress up in costume too. Here are some ideas for hosting an Adult Halloween Costume Party.

You can make your own invitations to set the Halloween party mood. At your local craft store get some pre-cut blank cards in a Halloween color and then head to the stamp row. Find a stamp that has a spider web, pumpkins, witches hat or other Halloween symbol. Don't forget to get an ink pad and a marker too. Decorate the front of the card with the stamp and ink pad. Write down the party details on the inside with the marker. Make sure you write down that it is a costume party.

When decorating for the costume party you need to decide if you are going for spooky or classy. If blood and gore is your goal then pile on the scary décor. Have a scary noise DVD playing to help set the mood. Hang spider webs and plastic spiders all over. Perhaps you had a classy party in mind. Then go with a candle filled room with cauldrons filled with dry ice and water to create a smoky ambiance. For either of these parties pumpkins, gourds, and fall leaves always have a place.

Your menu can be inspired by the season. Serve a pumpkin soup, salad, and pork tenderloin stuffed with apples. Pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream is always a hit for dessert.

Top off your Adult Halloween Costume Party with a costume contest. Make sure you have some fun door prizes to hand out to the winners.

Adult Halloween Party Ideas

Adult Halloween party ideas are a great time to celebrate and have fun just for the sake of a good time. It's an excuse to get dressed up and do something different. Halloween makes a great costume party as well as a great dinner party.

Waldorf salad with walnuts and pomegranate seeds sprinkled on it is out of this world. The rest of the salad should be a variety of apples and grapes. Pumpkin soup is a really nice change for most people, especially when served in little pumpkins cut up for the occasion. Apple pie makes a great desert as well, and it is rare to find someone who dislikes apples. A large pumpkin makes a great soup tureen. Decorate you table with a black cloth and candles of deep fall colors. You can decorate the room in fall apparel very similar to thanksgiving with a bit of kid's Halloween magic mixed in.

Halloween is considered the Celtic New Year and the apple harvest. In ancient times it was thought that the veils between our world and the next became very close and we could connect with our lost loved ones. Having a psychic read the tarot or someone to read palms can be a good source of entertainment, as can a magic show or even hiring a hypnotist; all of which can make a fun filled evening unforgettable.

What you do depends on the size of the party, where you will be having it and what kind of tastes you and your guests have. Just like any other party, adult Halloween party themes are all about having fun and enjoying everyone's company while having a good time.
