The Secret to a Great Party is in the Birthday Party Decorations

Birthday Party Decorations are the key to a successful party, as well as a good time for all guests. When choosing the specific decorations, you should always keep in mind the age group of your target audience. Age appropriate decorations, especially for a birthday party for children.

Birthday party decorations for young children are not only age specific, but typically gender specific as well. For girls, princess themes are quite common, as well as car racing or action figure themes for young boys. Whatever theme you choose you should always remember to stick with that theme and not try to incorporate unrelated things into it. However, keep in mind the age group of the guests, at all times.

For children typically under the age of seven, live characters, are always a great hit with all the guests. Not only is this the best decoration of the party, used to tie it all together, but also provides helpful entertainment.

Themes are not only important at birthday parties for children. Adult parties call for a theme as well in order to plan the decorations accordingly, however the theme itself may appear less obvious. Typically the theme is a specific color, rather than an idea. However, for important coming of age parties, such as: 21, 30, 40, etc. These should always be the central theme in your party.

Games can be a key factor at any party. The game should incorporate the theme already present, and can be a nice way to include all the guests together. At a party for young children it is important that as the host, you make sure that every child is included in the game equally so as not to bring about jealousy at the party. At a party for adults, this is the most opportune time to break the ice among all the guests. Games that include the first names of each guest are usually a good idea in order to help everyone become better acquainted.

The party theme can also be included in the food served. Birthday parties that fall close to big holidays may be centered on this idea. As an example, food for a Halloween centered party may be cupcakes with black frosting, or dressed up as other scary ideas or animals. For Christmas themes, Santa centered cupcakes or snowflake cookies are a nice touch.

As a whole, Birthday Party Decorations are the main factor in a successful party because they are the center of everything. When done correctly, your guests should simply subtly notice how nicely the entire party is tied together. Decorations need not overwhelm the party in excess; therefore, shopping on a budget is never a problem.

Party Panache - How to Budget Your Kid's Birthday Bash With Style

Whatever the budget for your kid's birthday party, you can create a birthday bash with panache. It's creativity that makes an event memorable. To that happy ending, here are some ideas to get the party started:

Hand deliver the invitations. Present a mini "glass" slipper for a princess party, or a small dinosaur figurine for a Jurassic party, then direct parents to check their e-mail for the Evite. This will make a big impact on your kid's party, and probably cost you a lot less than paper invitations with postage.

Invite fewer guests. No one says you have to invite all 22 kids from school. Besides, having just a handful of kids at the party is more manageable and makes your guests feel privileged for attending. Just be sure to handle invitations discreetly.

Double the fun. Divvy up the costs of entertainment and food by combining a party with another kid. Even if you hold separate parties when it comes to the food and drink, you could trim expenses on the location, decoration, bounce house, or talent by partnering with someone you know.

Set the scene at home. Your toy chest likely holds heaps of decor in your selected party theme. So get out the horse figurines for a pony party. Create a carnival atmosphere by hanging sheets on a line and floating rubber duckies in the kiddie pool. Run a DVD on continual play (Nemo's virtual aquarium works great for an under-the-sea theme party). Insert a glass with flowers into a cowboy boot for an instant vase. Your creativity will find new uses for old things.

Turn your guests into the decorations. Have kids bring their own cuddly bear for a teddy bear tea party. Give the young buckaroos a mustache you draw with an eye liner and outfit them with a bandanna or cowboy hat for a Western theme. Provide home-made fairy wings, and rainbow face painting for a fairyland theme party. Or invite guests to dress the part of a knight, princess or pirate.

Skip the helium balloons. Standard balloons are just as festive when attached to chairs, walls or the floor. For an underwater birthday theme, try affixing blue and green balloons to the floor to create an ocean effect. Instead of balloons, buy some inflatable toys on eBay -- they double as decorations and favors. You'll find a selection of affordable 15-inch inflatables from horses, cows, and monkeys to pink poodles, swords, magic wands and more on eBay. Or try a festive life-size monkey for a luau party, or red dragon for a knights and princess party: also found on eBay.

Do without. Sure, you can borrow tables and chairs, but why not have fun with your theme and do without them? Set up bales of hay for a horse theme party. Sit on towels for a pool party. Create a faux campfire for a cowboy theme party. Or just put picnic cloths on the lawn for your guests. You can do without some utensils too, if your food is portable. Ice cream cone cupcakes, for example, make a substantial impact on your budget when compared to a store bought cake. Instead of paper cupcake cups, just pour cake batter into colorful ice-cream cones and bake. You save on plates, forks and ice cream.

Make food and drink memorable. Try themed shaped cookie cutters for sandwiches. Set up the toy farm and create a "paddock" for the cupcakes at your barnyard party. Turn a submarine sandwich into a pirate ship with sails for the little scallywags. Use colored sugars like margarita salt for your princess party drinks (just wedge a lemon around the glass, then dip with blue or purple sugars and pour pink lemonade for an ethereal look that kids won't soon forget). Decorate water bottles with stickers in your party theme. You'll find a great selection of affordable stickers in on eBay. For a pink pirate party, we chose a pink colored Vitamin water and decorated the bottles with pirate stickers.

Create your own themed favors and treats. Use your computer and printer to make new labels for candy. Send kids home with a doggie dish of dog-bone shaped gingerbread cookies. Wilton makes several great candy molds to make lollypops or chocolate treats. You can also use them to mold crayons or soaps to match your theme.

Hire student performers or helpers. The hired help doesn't need to have artistic talent - just supply some tattoos you find on eBay and they can become instant "face painters. Helpers can also organize games and activities, serve the cake, help with the presents, or read a theme related book so you can enjoy your party.

Think ahead. Find candy on sale for the pinata after Valentine's Day, Halloween, or Christmas. Purchase costumes after Halloween, but in advance of your party. Stock up on drinks and chips when they're on sale to save money.

You can create the perfect party in your mind and deliver memorable results for your child as you save money. Be sure to include your child in as much of the pre-party planning as possible -- you may be surprised at the wonderful party ideas that may surface as a result.

Pirate Birthday Party Ideas - 7 Top Dos and Don'ts For a Great Kid's Theme Party

If your little buccaneer is dreaming of having a pirate party for his birthday, he's not alone. This theme remains extremely popular for young mateys of all ages. Here are the top seven dos and don'ts for making this the best celebration ever.

1. DO build excitement for the theme by sending out pirate birthday invitations. You can make your own by decorating old looking paper to appear like a treasure map. Write your party information on the map and add skull and crossbones stickers.

If you'd rather not construct hand crafted invites, then you can buy them. Party supply stores offer packets of ready made cards to announce the activities. Just fill them out and you're ready to go. Or you could order personalized pirate invitations online, some of which can even include a photo of your child.

2. DON'T spend a lot of money on decorating for the party. You can achieve great effects without going through too many gold doubloons. Hang black balloons and fishing nets around the house. Attach seashell and plastic fish, crabs and lobsters to the nets. Spray paint an old styrofoam cooler brown and embellish it so it looks like a treasure chest. Use items you may already have on hand, such as a Halloween skeleton, toy canon or a stuffed animal parrot. Scatter plastic or chocolate gold coins on the table. And don't forget to fly the pirate flag.

3. DO help the kids dress up like pirates. When they arrive, provide them with eye patches, bandanas and three corner hats. A station for temporary tattoos is also a good way to get them in the mood for the party.

4. DON'T leave the kids unsupervised with plastic swords. If you've included fake weapons as part of the costumes for your guests, be careful. The impulse to start dueling is nearly irresistible, so keep a close watch.

5. DO get creative with the menu. You can take a kid's favorite, like hot dogs and adapt them to your theme. For example, attach a sail with toothpicks to the frankfurter to make a ship or split it on the bottom to form an octopus. Offer bowls of blue jello with gummy fish imbedded in the middle. Rename food to fit the atmosphere. Chicken nuggets become golden coins and peanut butter and jelly is transformed into peanut butter and jellyfish.

A treasure chest cake is easy to make. Use two cakes baked in 13x9 inch pans and when cool, stack them on top of each other. Use popsicle or wood dowel sticks to keep the chest "open". Frost the cake, in that position, with chocolate icing. You can use fruit roll-ups to simulate the bolts. Then put your treasure in the opening. Use gold chocolate coins, candy necklaces and wrapped hard candy jewels to give the effect of an overflowing bounty of riches.

6. DO plan a lot of fun pirate games. Play "swab the deck" races with brooms and beach balls. Another good one is pin the "x" on the treasure map. The kids could all "walk the plank" on a flat or slightly elevated board. If they make it across without going overboard, they win. And of course, you'll have to engage them in a treasure hunt. The older the group of kids, the more challenging you can make the clues. But this is always a sure-fire hit.

7. DON'T let the kids leave without their loot. The goodie bag can contain any combination of treasures like a candy necklace, gold coins, eye patch, pirate stickers, temporary tattoos, plastic or plush parrot or anything with a skull and crossbones. You could even add a custom item like a personalized pirate notebook, chocolate bar or magnet as another cool party favor.

So, ahoy all mateys! Follow these tips and you're sure to put together a pirate birthday party filled with fun. Just set sail and create those lasting memories for your child.

Superhero Birthday Party Ideas For Super Kid's Birthday Parties

The superhero birthday party idea is a great all round fun kid's birthday party theme suitable for both boys and girls. Dressing up is not a problem, finding superman capes or bat girl masks could not be easier. Kid's birthday party games are simple to create and adjust a little to go just right with the superhero theme birthday party idea.

You can start having fun with your superhero birthday party idea right from sending out the birthday party invitations. Visit children's fans sites to really see what you could do with your superhero themed birthday party idea. Many sites may even offer birthday invitation templates to fill in and print and well as suggesting a variety of kid's birthday party games to make the special day a huge success.

Decorating for your superhero birthday party idea is also probably even more fun for the parents than the party itself. Well perhaps not as much fun as the kids birthday party games, but almost. You could make the table cloth by sticking older comic magazine pages over large paper sheets. Cans of "silly string" are too much fun to spray around the house or the yard; you could leave these out for the older kids to spray themselves. I don't recommend giving little one aerosol propulsion cans although, leave this job up to the big kids (if they could possibly do this without having silly string fights, the temptation might be a little too much to resist) or do it yourself then carefully dispose of the empty cans.

As for the rest of the decorations you could get a little creative digging into the Halloween decoration collection for Spiderman and Batman. Or get crafty and make some tall Styrofoam buildings for Superman, and look for some good old fashioned green slime goo and paint some rocks in lime green paint for kryptonite.

You can get very creative when planning the kid's birthday party games for the superhero birthday party idea. For the sports enthusiastic boys you could create a superheroes obstacle course. For something less strenuous you could try the X-Ray vision game, simply blindfold them and have then guess an object you out into their hands. If your really keen for something to keep them amused while you tend to the other duties, like cake, if having a Superman party try a game of find the joker, i.e. hide individual playing cards round the house or the lawn and promise a price to the kid that brings in the joker.

At the parties end you could display the wonderful photographs of the day in the form of a comic strip. Imagine the fun you and your child could have creating the script for the comic strip together and talking about the events of the party.

Now it would be worth remembering that superheroes do sometimes get a little boisterous and at the end of a long days party the BAMs and KERPOWs don't get any quieter, especially after a few kryptonite cups, so I suggest you enjoy the party also to make it all worthwhile.

Then when Superman is sleeping you can relax and remind yourself that you have a whole 12 months before having to do it all over again. They are seriously not kids for long enough enjoy every minute of it with them and cherish the memories your superhero birthday party idea will bring you both.

Birthday Party Ideas For Your One Year Old

Tired of the boring 'I'm 1!' birthday paraphernalia out there? Want to have a birthday party theme of something other than teddy bears or jungle animals? It's hard when your baby is only turning 1, they probably don't have any favorite heroes or characters they adore. Here are a few ideas that I came up with when planning two 1 year old birthday parties:

Fish

There are plenty of cake pans out there either new or used in the shape of fish, or make cupcakes and put Swedish fish on top. Use goldfish as the party favor or bubbles. You can do a fishing game for older kids - get some inexpensive plastic fishing poles, a baby swimming pool and try to 'hook' some fish.

Underwater

Use the same cake pans as above for the fish theme, or an octopus, whale or seahorse. Use bubbles as favors or swim goggles. For an activity you can go to a local pool or use your own pool or sprinkler.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar (or any Eric Carle books for inspiration)

Make cupcakes and frost them green with one red one for the head and arrange on a table - you have a caterpillar cake! For party favors you can get butterfly nets or make butterfly cookies the kids can decorate. As an activity you can have the kids design their own butterfly or caterpillar and you can read the book out loud.

Baby's First Halloween Birthday - Party Favors & Other Ideas

Children live for birthday parties and Halloween, so it's all the more special for a child born on or around October 31. Your baby's first Halloween birthday party can be a delight for you, your baby and your guests, both kids and adults.

Trick Or Treat? Treats, Of Course!

Party favors or goodie bags for Halloween birthday parties are especially easy to put together. First off, all the favors can go in miniature trick-or-treat bags or plastic jack o' lanterns. Miniature candy bars and chocolate kisses will delight any child, but think bigger for your adult guests. Personalized candy bar wrappers on standard-sized chocolate bars are an excellent way to treat the grown ups with a reminder of your baby's first birthday. Photo key chains and travel-sized candle tins are also great ideas for party favors that are appropriate for adult guests.

No matter what type of party favors you choose, you'll want your guests to remember your baby's first Halloween birthday fondly. An easy way to turn favor bags into keepsakes is with customized birthday labels or favor tags. Ideally, you should try to order your labels and/or favor tags at the same time and from the same company you order your invitations.  This way, you can get a matching or complementary design and coordinate the look and feel of baby's first Halloween birthday party.

Party-time is Game-time

A wealth of Halloween and birthday entertainment is available for baby's first Halloween birthday party. "Guess the number of candy corns in the jar" is a popular favorite, and the winner gets the jar of candy corn (or chocolate kisses or jelly beans). Of course, bobbing for apples has been popular in the U.S. since colonial times. Asking your guests to come dressed in costume is not only an ice-breaker, it's a great excuse for a costume contest. Pumpkin decorating, using markers and decorations instead of knives, will keep everyone busy and entertained. Of course, at the end of the party (or at the beginning), all the little ones can be assembled for a group trick-or-treat excursion.

Baby's first Halloween birthday is a great excuse to bring all your friends and family together, as well as a great opportunity to entertain both adults and children alike. Remember, a well-planned party means you'll have a great time too, and a happy host makes a happy party!

A Kids Halloween Birthday Party - When Your Child's Birthday Falls on October 31

I had a friend who was born on October 31st. Yes, October 31st is Halloween and, yes, I did tease her about it now and then.

Celebrating a birthday that falls on or near Halloween can be tricky. Just like people whose birthdays fall near Christmas, there is the danger that the holiday overpowers the birthday. And that can be tough for a child.

But on the other hand, it also means that the whole world is having a party on your birthday - now that is not so bad, eh?

If your child was born on or near Halloween, it is easy to combine a birthday party with a Halloween party. It makes your life a little easier, because you are planning one party instead of two. Just think of the birthday party as one with a Halloween theme and you get the idea.

To prevent Halloween from overpowering the event, make the guest of honor the primary focus of attention. It is his birthday and he (or she) is king.

Decor, plates and utensils can have a Halloween flavor--there is certainly enough readily available at this time of year at your local party store or online. But make sure you highlight traditional birthday food and activities.

It is a birthday, so there are birthday presents and a birthday cake and candles. But the cake can be decorated with orange icing and made to look like a pumpkin's face. Or if your little one prefers chocolate, use the dark brown background as a background to draw with orange icing for pumpkins or white for ghosts.

As for activities, aside from opening gifts, singing Happy Birthday and blowing out candles, you can use any craft or game idea that picks up on a Halloween theme.

The upshot? Combining a birthday party with Halloween gives kids the best of both worlds and the best of two fun holidays.

Yo Ho A Pirate's Treasure Map

Your party guests will really get into your Pirate theme when you send them an invitation that looks like an old Pirate Treasure map...

Cut a brown paper bag into a square.

Then, with a black marker write something like "Captain__________'s (insert your birthday child's name) treasure map"...

"Ye be invited to a swash-buckling good time matey... (then give the party date, time, length of the party and any other details) then close the invitation by saying something like...

The map is actually directions to your party location and the "X" is the actual birthday party address...

When your guests arrive, have them put their puzzle pieces together, then they can all hunt for the treasure you've hidden...

Make sure you keep a copy of the map in case one of your guests doesn't show up.

For treasure, put some chocolate coins (always a big hit with our kids) in a box and hid them somewhere for your guests to find together with their map.

*A Tip From Grandpa Mike

When I was a boy, one of my favorite Halloween costumes was a pirate costume.

Cut the shirt sleeves to 3/4 length and fray the edge of the sleeves so they look worn... Cut the pant legs to 3/4 length and fray the edges so they look worn and "ship wrecked".

You can make an eye patch out of a small piece of black card stock or black cloth... Attach a black string or shoe lace to the eye patch and tie it around your child's head.

A wide black belt with a large buckle (you can make a buckle) can be cut to fit around your child's waist.

Fun Pirate Make-Up

You can complete your child's pirate look by putting black smudges on their face with an eyebrow pencil. Smear it around to look like a beard on a rough pirate face.

Fun Pirate Birthday Party Ideas - Decorations

Black, red, yellow, orange, blue and white are great pirate colors.

Use streamers and balloons to decorate your party area.

First Birthday Party Ideas

The first birthday party of a child is very significant to parents, family and friends. For first time parents, the occasion is especially auspicious because it is the first for them to hold for a child of their own. There is no doubt that the party will bring a lot of emotion to many as they watch what they perceive to be as a milestone. Therefore, first birthday party ideas are very necessary. They will inspire and inform all parents and guardians about the possibilities that are available to make the birthday party a success. The first thing you are required to do is to relax and know that all you need is available. You will find the following tips on first birthday party ideas helpful.

Firstly, as you think and search for first birthday ideas, know that the party needs to be short. This is because the guest of honor needs some time to take a nap. The party can last for a maximum of 2 hours and the baby needs to be given room so that they do not become cranky. Schedule the party on the weekend so that it can be a more relaxed time for you. When thinking about guests to invite, the majority of people will be adults. If you want to have other babies, have a maximum of 5 and they should have their parents around to cater for them. Do not invite a large number of guests who you cannot manage. Your plate will already be full from looking after the birthday baby.

First birthday party ideas for food include finger foods. You do not have to make meals for the babies and you can concentrate on the adults. Take into consideration food allergies so that you can offer your guests wholesome meals. You need to be very flexible and expect anything where children are concerned. Be on guard with first aid gadgets for any accident that may occur. So that you can enjoy the first birthday party for your child, get help from a relative who will help you look after the baby when you have other things to attend to. For the children present at the party, keep a lot of toys to keep them busy and occupied. You can also make a healthy first birthday party cake. This means that you can have a cake that has substitutes for eggs because it might not be healthy to introduce whole eggs to your baby at this point.

Other first birthday party ideas for a healthier cake are that you can have healthier cake flavors. They can be derived from fruits like bananas, apples, carrots and many more. The cake will definitely have less sugar and this is healthy choice. Also, you will get to learn about homemade whipped cream which will also give your baby that healthy start in life. The above tips will help you know a few basic ideas that should be considered when planning a first birthday party. The next thing you consider is the theme, invitations, decorations, party favors, activities and others.

Perfect Birthday Party Ideas For Teen Girls

Throwing a birthday party for your teenage daughter can seem like a daunting task. You may feel like your daughter is outgrowing birthday parties, just like she outgrew her love of playing dress-up and having tea parties. So, you may want to look past a roller skate or bowling party, and delve a little deeper. Even though she may roll your eyes at you, and do her best to convince you that she is "way to old" for whatever you might have in mind. Even though this may be the case, every girl loves to feel special and every girl loves to get presents. So, by choosing a great birthday party theme that is unique and fun, you are guaranteed to do both...minus the eye roll.

1.) Perfect Make Over Party. This is a fabulous birthday party idea. Everyone knows someone who sells Mary Kay, Arbonne, or Avon make-up products. Enlist their help, and have them bring their goodies and host a how-to make-up party complete with facials and lessons on how to appropriately apply make-up. This is a great idea for younger teen girls who may be reaching that important make-up wearing milestone as a result of this birthday. You can usually hire a hair stylist for a few hours to come over and create some updo's, but this is only worth the cost if it's a smaller party and she will have plenty of time to do everyone. You can send out invitations that resemble a tube of lipstick or a compact, and you can go to a thrift store to find pretty robes and slippers (wash them, of course!) for the girls to get cozy in. You can also, serve healthy foods like cucumber finger sandwiches, green tea ice cream and this amazing green tea mixed drink (see recipe).

Green Tea With A Punch (Serves 4)

Ingredients

1 fresh pineapple - peeled, cored and cut into chunks

2 large green apples, washed and sliced

1 1/4 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger

1 cup brewed green tea, chilled

1 cup mango sorbet or crushed ice

Juice the pineapple, apples, and ginger in a juice machine. Mix the juice with the tea, and stir in the mango sorbet.

2.) A Costume Party. This is a great idea, even if it isn't Halloween. To keep it from getting out of hand you might limit it to a certain type of costume party such as animal costumes or Renaissance costumes, whatever mirrors your daughter's interests. If you throw a Renaissance costume party you could create really formal looking invitations, and get some classical music. You might even consider learning a few Renaissance dances and teaching them to the kids. If you have an animal themed costume party, your invitations could resemble zoo cages and you could decorate with a circus type theme. Be sure to provide lots of "doggie treats" and "cat nip" to keep everyone's appetite at bay.

3.) A Hollywood Premier Party. This would be a great party idea, especially for large group. Your invitations could resemble movie ticket stubs, and you can have everyone dress to the nines in their formal gowns and tuxes from past school dances. You can rent a "red carpet" and have "photographers" on hand to snap shots of each couple and "TV personalities" to interview each guest. Be sure to get the interviews on video, because that would be a great gift for your daughter. You could create "swag" bags to give away as party favors, and maybe even arrange for your daughter's favorite movie to play at a local theater.

4.) A Karaoke Party. This is a fun, relaxing party for girls who just want to have fun. Keep everything laid back as possible, or you can go all-out and set up a stage and couple of café tables in your backyard. You can usually rent karaoke equipment or you could consider hiring a DJ with karaoke equipment for your event. Be sure to provide plenty of room for dancing, and your invitations could look like old records or a microphone. You can serve pizza or wings whatever relaxing, fun foods suits your event.

These are just a few ideas, but whatever you decide to do, be sure to get your daughter involved in whatever you decide to do. After all it is her birthday, and the more involved she is, the more likely she is to not only cooperate, but also have a great time. Every girl deserves to have a fun, memorable birthday party, and with a little bit of creativity you can make that happen.

50th Birthday Party Ideas - Four Fun and Fabulous Party Theme Ideas

Need a few good 50th birthday party ideas? This article offer a couple of unique and fun suggestions for party planning and creating a great 50th birthday bash!

50th Birthday Party Idea 1: The Grim Reaper

Looking for a little humor? The Grim Reaper party theme is a blast, especially if your birthday person just happens to have a birthday around Halloween or he would enjoy a fun custom party. A fun activity for this party is to have a "life review" where each guest shares a story about the birthday guest.

50th Birthday Party Idea 2: The Roast

Depending on the birthday guest's personality, this can either be a bit serious and soulful or wild and crazy. Prepare a nice dinner and invite guest to toast or roast the birthday man or woman. Again, your guests have the opportunity to share the life stories about the guest of honor, which is very meaningful and memorable.

50th Birthday Party Idea 3: The Tribute Dinner

This is a red carpet, glamorous type dinner-birthday party. Ask your guest to dress there best, such as cocktail or festive attire. Show photos or movie clips of events from the guest of honor's life. Old home movies, clips from newspapers or even short interviews with friends and family add to the excitement and entertainment of the evening.

50th Birthday Party Idea 4: Hobby Themed Costume Party

This theme is great because it can be personalized for a perfect fit. Does the birthday person have a special hobby? Are they a fanatic about a certain period in time? Whether it be cooking, model trains, sailing or even the Revolutionary War, any hobby or pastime can be used as a theme for a 50th birthday party. Have everyone dress in costume; add themed music and food, a few decoration and viola you are set!

A great keepsake to for the party is either a scrapbook or even a photo book. Both are easy to make, especially with online sites such as SmugMug or PhotoWorks.

The 50th birthday is a grand celebration and a once in a lifetime occurrence. So invite your closest friends and family and take this occasion to celebrate your successes, joys and adventures. Twilight Party Ideas - One Way to Celebrate Your Birthday

Using Twilight as a way to celebrate your birthday has become quite a popular event. I wonder how many Halloween parties it's going to inspire!

Your birthday is around the corner and you still haven't come up with a theme for the party. You're out of ideas and you start to panic- what should you do? Well, while everybody else has notions of princesses and fairies as their themes, why don't you try something different and more interesting? Think Twilight Party Ideas.

The Twilight book saga has been sensational so you know that parties based on these are going to be surefire hits. If you want your party to be memorable, then you should have a Twilight-themed party. How to get started? It's quite simple.

Let's begin with the basics- make your own party invitations. Cut thick papers into 5 inch by 5 inch squares. Blood red papers would be nice. Download an eerie picture of any Twilight scene you like (you can find these in the net). Glue one picture for each paper and attach a small black ribbon on top. Put the party details at the back of the paper in black ink.

Now let's talk about decorations. Naturally, it should match the atmosphere depicted in the movie. Something dark, with lots of twinkle lights to make it enchanting would be great. Alice Cullen always planned the parties in the book saga, and Alice went crazy with twinkle lights!

Prepare a black satin table cloth. If you can't find black, use red. Set the table. Make sure to put juicy red apples on top of each plate. Jelly Apples would work too. Put some red food coloring in melted butter and pour it on top of freshly popped pop corn. That will help the popcorn to look a little vampy.

Place some candles on the table. If you can get hold of an antique-looking table candle set, it would surely make the whole set up more suitable for the occasion. Put posters of Edward and Bella, the Cullens, and other vampires on the walls of the party area.

Get some party music going! Play some eerie music. Classics such as Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Brahms Piano Quintet in G minor are quintessential spooky music. Too dark for you? Then use the music soundtrack from the Twilight movie!

Naturally, no party is complete without a party punch. To make it more attuned to the theme, you should prepare a red party punch. All you need are: 2 cups apple juice, 4 cups cranberry juice, and 1.5L lime beverage...I use whichever one I find in the grocery store freezer. Mix them all together and put some ice just before serving.

Now you are ready for an unforgettable Twilight-themed birthday party! Since the DVD was just released for sale, why not have a movie viewing for your guests. Play some trivia games and you can make up a Jeopardy game easily with the help of one or more of the books. I have been dazzled by Edward and am a big fan of the Twilight Saga and movies, I would enjoy watching the movie with my friends and I am sure your friends would enjoy it too.

Seasonal Birthday Party Ideas

There are times when you have to throw a birthday party for somebody whose interests you may not know very well. For example, a child's first birthday presents a challenge as far as coming up with a theme goes because babies may not have developed an obvious liking for certain things at that point. So, a great idea is to take cues from the season. Every season has classic elements that are easily recognizable, making your job a lot easier when it comes time to think of things like decorations and even food choices. Here are some more specific examples to illustrate this point:

Fall/Autumn Birthday

Some themes that are very easily associated with the fall are leaves, pumpkins, Holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving, and the fall colors. You can very easily develop an entire birthday theme around these things. For example, an invitation could have a pumpkin on it and read, "Our little pumpkin is turning two." You could then make a pumpkin flavored cake in a Bundt pan and frost it with orange frosting with autumn foliage decorations in the center.

Mini Bundt cakes can be used for individual children's cakes and tootsie rolls can be used for the stems. Serve the cakes with pecan praline ice cream or another type of ice cream that reminds you of fall or uses ingredients that you feel correlate with the season. For an activity, you can go to the pumpkin patch and choose pumpkins that each guest could then carve.

Winter Birthday

Winter birthdays can incorporate the themes of ice, white, snow, etc. If you live in an area where you can go snow shoeing or skiing, that might be a fun activity. If you are working with younger kids, something like having snowmen building contests or snow fort building games may be more appropriate (and cost effective). White icing can be used to make individual cupcakes or you can use two or more 8x8 cake pans, stack the cakes on top of each other and have an ice cube birthday cake. You could also incorporate winter animals like penguins and polar bears into the party.

Summer Birthday

Water games are a fantastic idea for a summer themed party. You can bob for apples in a kiddie pool, you can play water balloon volleyball, and you could even substitute a traditional birthday cake and ice cream with snow cones or Popsicles. There are countless outdoor games that you could think of and all of them would have the advantage that the disruption to the inside of your home would be minimal. Kids can also take advantage of being active and having more space to play than they would if they were forced to stay indoors because of the weather.

Spring Birthday

Spring birthdays are great for girls because this season is very feminine. There are blooming flowers, sweet smells, baby animals and even some magical elements like pixies or butterflies. Boys need not feel left out. Bugs and nature exploration can be a fun part of their party. You can have the party guest bring their own bug-catching containers and let them run wild in the back yard. You can easily use a circular cake pan to make a bug body, use licorice for antennae and legs and icing for all the other details. Spring favor bags can include any of the above mentioned bug or little girl themes. You could also incorporate an egg hunt if the birthday is close to Easter. Remember also that, as with any season, there are also colors associated with spring. Pastels, including lots of greens are great colors to use to incorporate this theme into your birthday party ideas.

There are some really fun party themes that are perfect for a teenage birthday party. Let's look them over and see if you can't find the perfect one for your budding teenager!

A Twilight party is one of the more popular party themes this year. With the release of the book saga by Stephanie Meyer, of the movie, Twilight plus the anticipated release of Twilight's New Moon this fall...this movie and book sensation is certainly one you should consider if your teen-to-be is a Twilight fan.

Hannah Montana is another popular teen party theme. Music and karaoke are the highlights at this kind of gathering. Pull out the old karaoke machine, or borrow one, and video tape your guests as they croon away to the songs on the screen. Have you ever gone to a karaoke party? You will be laughing all night long! It's so much fun and there are some great party favors you can give out, like toy microphones, CDs and Posters. Have someone take still photos of your singing sensations too...you cannot get enough pictures of this amazing contest of singing skill! After your party be sure to send a copy of the CD to your guest stars as well.

When is your child's birth date? You can have a seasonal party theme for their 13th birthday party. Summer is perfect for a pool party, Spring is garden party season, Fall is Halloween...now that's a really great 13th birthday party idea!

Halloween 13th birthday party ideas Invite everyone to come dressed up in a costume and let them know you are having a Costume Contest! Get some goofy Halloween party prizes like candy eye balls or fake lips...there is so much to pick from Play Halloween games like Make a Mummy...that's where teams are formed and each one has to make one of the team members a Mummy using toilet paper (TP), It's unbelievably funny to watch these kids work the TP around their teammate. Halloween gives you so many decorating ideas and the number 13 works right into that perfectly! Mark your front door with the numbers 13 for your address. Halloween is good for trivia games too. Who lived at 1313 Mockingbird Lane? The answer is The Munsters! Okay, that might be a little before your 13 year olds time...but someone might know! You can have your son or daughter make up their own scary game of trivia to play. They will know all the scary movies that are popular with their age group...even if I don't! Food is another reason to have a Halloween 13th birthday party. There are hundreds of silly and scary party food recipes you can use. Makes me wish my birth date was in October!

Winter parties are fun too. Use Snowflakes as your decoration theme...that will look so pretty. Or use a Ski or Ice Skating theme if you like.

You can take teens to a movie and go out for a pizza later, or have your party at a bowling alley where everyone can bowl and eat from the snack bar. That might seem more like a mature party for them rather than a kids type party at home.

Whatever theme you decide remember the entire point of a party is to have some fun, and that includes you Mom! Welcome to the teenage years!

Halloween Birthday Parties For Preschoolers

Halloween birthday parties for toddlers and preschoolers are easy to plan and lots of fun for the kids. Attendees get two for the price of one and that makes it twice as fun.

When you plan your child's Halloween birthday party you are guaranteed a successful outcome if you keep in mind the three components of the event in order of importance:

1. It is an event for preschoolers and very young children. Like any event designed around toddlers and preschoolers, you want to design it around their strengths and limitations. That means tailoring the event to their inquisitiveness and short attention spans.

The party itself should not run more than two hours. Plan activities in blocks of no more than twenty minutes each, limiting guests to one activity at a time. That will keep the pace lively enough to satisfy short attention spans.

2. A Halloween birthday party is, at its core, a birthday party. Make sure that that message is conveyed from the start.

Invitations should state clearly that this is a birthday party.

Avoid scheduling the party on October 31st, so your guests do not have to make a choice between attending the party or going out trick-or-treating.

The birthday cake - and there ought to be one - should be at the center of the table.

Everything else should come to a halt when it is time to gather round the birthday cake, blow out the candles and sing Happy Birthday.

The idea here is to keep the focus on the guest of honor whose birthday can easily get lost in the excitement of the Halloween holiday.

3. The party takes place on or near Halloween.

Use the surrounding Halloween holiday to your advantage. There is no need to search for a party theme; Halloween is your theme and appropriate decorations are everywhere.

If you have covered the first two bases, then you are free to immerse yourself into the holiday. So tell the kids AND the parents to dress in costume.

Serve Halloween themed foods (normal party food dressed up for the occasion-no need to get fancy for this age group) and plan Halloween themed music and games.

Twilight - For Movie, Halloween and Birthday Party Ideas

The Timing is Perfect for Twilight Party Ideas.

With the movie DVD being released soon and with all of us dazzled fans waiting for news about New Moon...the second book in the Saga and the next movie to be made, this is going to be a very popular party theme. The Saga was written by Stephanie Meyer and it has four books in it. The third book is Eclipse and the fourth...and final book is Breaking Dawn. The story covers a couple years in the lives of Edward Cullen...a Vampire, and Bella Swan...his human soul mate. Not only is this Vampire romance Saga a really good read, it gives us lots of reasons to have a Twilight Party!

How Good a Story is It?

I've been in a Twilight Fog since I read the books. I picked the first one up and a week later I put the final novel down, still wishing there were more to read! I think about Edward and Bella most of the time, and every day I have a new favorite character because they are all so likeable! Yes, even Rosalie! It takes awhile, but fans even warm up to Rosalie once they hear her story.

Party Ideas?

Yes, there are so many parties you can use a Twilight party ideas with. The first one that comes to mind is a Movie Party. Since the movie is being released on DVD in March you can be the first one to have a party. Just get some red soda and put some red butter on your popcorn...and maybe drizzle some melted chocolate on it too..and you are set. Movie parties don't require too much prep since the theme is the movie. You can order pizza, serve some drinks and a dessert if you like, it's an easy party to host.

Halloween Parties are Perfect for Twilight Party Ideas...with the whole Vampire thing going on. Why not have a Vampire theme Halloween Bash or A Couples Costume Party? Invite your friends to come dressed as any kind of Vampire or as a famous Vampire Couple. Alice and Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett, Carlisle and Esme, and of course, Edward and Bella. But there are more couple ideas to think about. The Volturi Vamps from Italy are great for your gory minded friends, you know, the ones who like human blood sucking versions of Vampires, rather than the mild, animal blood drinking ones.

The Volturi couples costumes can use Jane and Alec, Felix and Demetri, Heidi and Aro, or Marcus and Caius as inspirations. Or the Volturi would make a great group costume idea and so would The Cullen Clan. How about going as the human residents of Forks? The werewolves are another couples costume idea. Go as Jacob and Leah or Sam and Emily. Breaking Dawn gives us loads of couple Vampire costume ideas...you remember all the friends of the Cullen's we were introduced in the final book of the Saga. If you are really into vicious Vampires there's always James and Victoria. There are Life Size stand up cut outs of Bella, Edward, James, Victoria and Laurent to use as decorations that will make an impression. In fact, they might freak some of your party guests out! Twinkle lights have to be part of the decorations or Alice will be so disappointed! Alice, the Cullen Family party planner, just loves to use twinkle lights at all her parties.

Birthdays are Another Great Reason to Use Twilight Party Ideas.

You know your tween or teenager, the one that has read the entire Saga, will just love this party theme and so will all their friends. You can even plan 16th birthday parties around Twilight. There are some very different color schemes you can use. Decorations can use the black and red book covers, or go light with lots of flowers and twinkle lights, like Bella and Edward's wedding reception. Vampires used to be dark and evil, but after reading about the Cullen's you can go with light and bright colors too.

Whatever party theme you use make sure to include some fun games when you're planning your party. Movie parties can always fit in a trivia contest. Make your questions about the movie and the characters. Birthday and Halloween parties can use trivia too...but there's other games you can include like: Twilight Charades, Outburst, A Vampire Dress Up Relay Race, and of course with Halloween, the Costume Contest! Whatever the reason for using Twilight party ideas, you and your friends are sure to have a good time!

Fang-Tastic Halloween Birthday Party Ideas

If you're looking to create a terror-iffic Halloween birthday party, that is sure to be a scream, you'll want to start setting the mood with some frightfully fun invitations. We've also scared up some tricks to help you to transform your home into a Fright Fest.

HALLOWEEN BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS FOR INVITATIONS

Coffin Invites - Cut out coffin-shaped invites from black posterboard or cardstock. Write "R.I.P." or "Going, Going, Gone" in red, followed by the name of a guest in white. Put your party date, which will signify the end of their life.

Spider Invites - Cut a piece of purple cardstock into four pieces. Using a yellow felt tip pen, draw lines to create the look of a spider web on the card. Type or write the party details and add a black spider sticker amongst your webs.

Poster Invites - Create a poster with a Halloween theme and add your party details at the bottom.

HALLOWEEN BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS FOR DECORATIONS

For a hauntingly good time, make a "ghost" to greet your guests. Blow up a large balloon and tie it off with fishing line. Cut a tiny hole in the center of a white sheet and feed the line through the hole. Draw black eyes on the sheet and hang your friend from the ceiling, at the front door, using the fishing line.

Make a ghastly couple to greet your guests. Stuff the clothing of a man and woman with newspaper to create their bodies. Place the bodies in chairs or a swing near your entrance. Stack some boxes behind the chairs or swing and place pumpkins with carved out faces to serve as their heads.

Create a frightfully fun graveyard to greet your guests. Whatever the age of the birthday person, have that many tombstones in your graveyard. In the alternative, you could have the tombstones all reflect the names of your guests. Just use gray posterboard or foam board to create your tombstones.

Spray paint silk or plastic plants black or dark purple and place around your yard or party room.

For a real spook-tastic ceiling, cover it with fallen tree branches that are free of leaves and spray paint them black. Then hang from fishing line large, black rubber bats and spiders. Interweave orange lights to create an eerie atmosphere.

To give your party room a creepy, crawly feeling, cover a wall with a spiderweb tablecloth and attach large plastic spiders to the web.

Freeze glow-in-the-dark eyeballs into ice cubes and use them in your punch bowl.

Create a fruit centerpiece by spray-painting plastic fruit black. Arrange the fruit in a silver bowl and interweave orange lights throughout. You could also attach an orange and black balloon bouquet to the arrangement to give it added height.

Spray paint a long metal trough black. Fill it with rice that has been colored orange using food coloring. Place tea light candles in the trough to give your table ambiance.

When considering which Halloween birthday party ideas to implement, you might want to consider creating a Mad Scientist display with a jar of glow-in-the-dark eyeballs, colored, steaming waters using food coloring and dry ice in beakers, glass jars, etc.

You never know what will be lurking around a corner. Fill a black cauldron with dry ice. Remember to wear gloves when handling the ice so it doesn't burn you. Place rubber snakes, mice, and bugs along the edges so it looks like the pot is filled with these delectable critters. Pour warm water over the ice and it will look like something's cookin'.

Transform your party room walls with black trees made from black butcher paper. You can make the tree trunks in one piece, then make several branches, and just attach them to the trunk to create the tree.
